Freiburg is a unique city- a mix of old and new in the best way. While in Freiburg, stay at the Colombi Hotel; a small boutique, privately owned hotel located across the street from the theatre. Colombi Hotel is a member of The Leading Hotels Of The World and Best of Southwest Germany. The hotel is within walking distance to the cathedral (city centre); about a 5 minute walk. The city is home to the oldest University in Germany and amazing wine.
While touring the city, visit the Augustinermuseum- a former Augustine monastery. The monastery was made into a museum a few years ago with the help of locals who wanted to save the building and its contents.
After a day of touring, stop at Alte Wache, a local wine bar for a wine tasting. The wine bar is located next door to the Cathedral in the city center and has some of the best wines we’ve ever had!
Before leaving Freiburg the next day, take a walk to the Musterplatz market. Every Saturday local farmers and craftsmen come to the market to sell their goods. The selection of vegetables, fruits, arts/crafts, is huge and the quality is just amazing.
