Ladder Ranch- Caballo, New Mexico
Ladder Ranch– Owned by Ted Turner
The Ladder Ranch has 156,000 acres of privately owned “National-Park like” land. The Ladder Ranch’s most distinguishing characteristics are its incredibly diverse and spectacular wildlife (bison, elk, deer, antelope, javelina, mountain lions, bears, etc.) and its magnificent mix of ecosystems, ranging from desert grasslands to pine forests in the foothills of the Black Range Mountains.
This trip is completely customized to you. Each days activities are private and totally flexible. The ranch has incredible spa options encompassing the natural elements of New Mexico into their treatments, and a huge range of activities including: hiking, bird watching, birding tours , photography classes, native American rock art tours, mountain biking, Horseback riding motorized sunset/sunrise tours, animas creek tours (via mountain bike, hiking, or 4wd vehicle), Heritage tours of the petroglyphs, turn of the century adobe ruins and ancient Native Mimbres People (A.D. 1000-1150) culture and ruins, Palentology prospecting, cave canyons, Bat flight tour, Geology prospecting tours, Vision Quest Hikes, Expeditions to the spaceport and Armendaris (a neighboring Ted Turner Ranch) Ranch, Baloon tours, Fixed wing and helicopter tours and custom adventures based on anything you can dream up!
While visiting the Ladder Ranch, make sure you take a drive through the Monticello Box Canyon. It is such a unique canyon nestled inbetween the town of Monticello and Dusty, New Mexico.
Fun fact about Monticello: My family, the Sullivan’s, founded Monticello in the 1850’s after coming out to New Mexico with the Calvary from Monticello, New York. At one point, my great grandfather was the largest land owner in New Mexico; to say I know the area would be an understatement! To this day, Dusty/Monticello is still one of my favorite places to escape to. It is the epitome of true disconnect and relaxation.
In addition to activities, there is plenty of relaxing to be had at the Ranch’s base camp, with luxurious villa accommodations, award winning private chefs and incredible spa options.
This adventure offers ample opportunities to both relax and enjoy the natural beauty mixed with outdoor adventures in the amazing natural landscapes, all while experiencing the culture and unique geography in the region.
This is an extremely unique opportunity to experience beautiful wild lands (similar to nearby national parks), in a totally private environment, with unique cultural exploration (Native American history and culture, petroglyphs, ancestral, villages, homes/cliff dwellings etc.)
The experience is fully guided and all inclusive, relaxing and just as adventurous as you like!
